5 Weight-loss Factors

FIVE FACTORS FOR WEIGHT LOSS

Losing weight and keeping your weight stable both have a common factor: Consistency.  If you are consistent in what you do with your body, not only will you lose weight, but you will remain at your chosen weight.

To be consistent and guarantee weight-loss, you need to stick to what I call “Life Rules”. Each person must set their own “Life Rules” for stable weight, but they must be based on the following Five Factors.

(I previously had four factors, when I neglected to include the most important spirituality factor)

#Correct eating pattern.

This means you eat a balanced diet, of sufficient quantity. No more than sufficient! The trick I used for my weight-loss in my 40s (I’m now 70 and going strong!) was to simply cut out butter, cakes and biscuits (cookies). In six months I was a different person, and the extra kilograms lost have never returned ! Do I eat cake and cookies now? Yes, but always in the home of others, because I try to be polite. I never buy or eat them in my own home (unless we have guests). They are “weight-loss killers”.

The food in your shopping cart would tell me whether you eat healthily or not. Why buy unhealthy “food”?

#Sufficient Exercise.

For people that are overweight, they must begin gentle exercise. Too much to begin with is harmful (See my thoughts on Weight-loss camps)

Gradually work up to a regime that involves the equivalent of 60 minutes a day 3 to 6 days a week. I began in my forties by jogging up and down the carpeted passage on my house, a distance of 10 metres. Up and down for 2 minutes to begin with. After a couple of weeks I was fit enough to jog/walk for a kilometre). My weight-loss programme was ready to take off!

# A Clear, Stress Free Mind

This can be the most difficult aspect of losing weight. You may be a comfort food eater. You are under stress. Right?  Or maybe you just love chocolate and anything sweet. For weight-loss, it helps to have a “Clear Mind”. There are several techniques. Remember that stress can cause both weight gain or weight-loss!

# Your Support Team

Now you have made up your mind on weight-loss, now is the time to seek support. Not everybody needs a buddy, but it sure helps. There are several organizations who will do this for you. Most of them charge you for a weight-loss plan, and sometimes it is worth it to lose those unwanted pounds and kilograms.

If you need personal help send an email me for my personal friendly weight-loss advice, and it won’t cost you a cent.

My advice. When you seek help to lose weight remember my Five Factors. If those people who are offering a weight-loss service do not satisfy the Five Factors – be wary.

#Spiritual growth
When I first thought of what factors are needed for weight-loss, I neglected to include the spiritual aspect, and then I came to realise how important it really is, not only for weight-loss, but for life in general.

Nobody can really convince another person how to be spiritual, whether it be Christian as I am, or one of the many other methods of engaging yourself in word outside yourself (for the want of a better description).

Belief in a greater external power than oneself, instead of weakening you, actually strengthens your inner self, which can give you greater resolve on your weight-loss journey. I encourage you to -

“Seek, and you shall find”.

To lose weight you first need a plan. Find a plan that might suit you, then compare it with my Five Factors. Many weight-loss products are useless.
