Gabriel Method Review Part 2. The Stress factor

Consider the mental stresses that activate your fat. Some people lose weight when they feel unsafe, because their “safety” depends on the ability to flee from danger. (I’m sure you have come across instances of stressed people who are thin). Jon explains what he calls the “modern day famine”.  That is LACK of love, money, attention or spiritual meaning in a person’s life. According to the theory this “lack” tells the brain to eat, in order to replenish what is missing. (Some people simply call this “comfort” eating). His recommendation is to “follow your heart” in other words get out of your rut and do what you are good at or follow what you  really want to do. (Not a simple matter for many people, but Gabriel gives you tools to make it easier).

One of the most important reasons why people find it impossible to lose weight is because of their own “belief”. They simply cannot persuade themselves that they will succeed. It is a psychological phenomenon, much used by the medical profession in the “placebo effect”. What you believe will happen, does happen, irrespective of other factors. Jon Gabriel asserts that you must learn to “think thin” for weight-loss.

There are other emotional reasons why people cannot lose weight. Gabriel gives the example of an unemployed man who was overweight, and tried to diet so he looked more presentable. He failed because in truth he was using his fat as an excuse not to work. Not because he didn’t want to, but because he couldn’t face the issues in the workplace. Gabriel’s FAT PROGRAMS (reasons for weight increase) are triggered in various ways. Gabriel says first you have to understand what they are, then what to do about them.

Next time Gabriel’s “Smart Mode”.

Keep Smiling
