When you are overweight or obese, you are usually lacking in energy. Some mornings you don’t even want to get out of bed – even after a full night’s sleep. You may be so down that you refuse to try weight-loss. It’s too hard for you. Losing weight sometimes isn’t pleasant. Foods you have become accustomed to over a lifetime are now on the weight-loss banned list.
Life sucks. You just cannot win. If you had a magic wand, you would be slim in an instant, but that kind of weight-loss won’t happen.
“Let’s make a start right now!”
“Don’t wanna”.
Silence
“I want you to to start on healthy weight-loss plan and look at you – you won’t budge!”
“Not interested!”
Silence
(Looks like a stalemate).
“Well”, say I, leaping out of my easy chair from in front of the TV, “What if we make weight-loss fun?”
“Huh? What’s so funny about weight-loss?”
That was an imaginary (but close to the truth) conversation and now…
Here’s three of my real “Magic Wand” ideas.
Let’s try them, they are weight-loss winners!
1. We (you and me) hold a weight-loss competition.
We send a letter to all other Wofts we know (A WOFT is you and me, we are “Warring On Fat Together”)
Let’s write an example letter.
Dear Woft, I hereby challenge you to a weight-loss competition, using only exercise and food control (No pills, gastric-banding, and other shonky methods please). You must lose a mimimum of 1% of your bodyweight
over 6 months, checked at a weekly weigh-in. To compete, it will cost you $2 a week, the winner is decided on percentage weight-loss to original body weight.
If there is more than one winner the money goes into a Healthy Night-Out-Pot for all competitors.
(You can make up your own rules -you can lose nothing but your weight! )
2. New meals for weight-loss.
We cook at least one new dish a week. There are literally thousands of free recipes to pick from. And guess what we are going to cook? Yes “healthy” dishes! Weight-loss means a healthy lifestyle.
We may even form a New Dish-A-Week cooking club with our weight-loss Wofts.
3. We will dance for weight-loss!
You dont need a partner to dance for weight-loss. You don’t even need a band to dance for weight-loss. Music is helpful though – and privacy to begin with. Have you ever danced alone?
Now is the time to crank up your motor, turn on your favorite beat and jiggle your fat to oblivion! Do it in front of a mirror, turn the music up and really let your hair down!
4. Write and tell me your fun thing you do for your weight-loss. I am sure there are hundreds of different ideas out there! So now, as you sit in your comfortable chair making weight-loss plans, think of something you can enjoy, and lose weight at the same time. Over to you!
