The supermarket is an interesting place, which I visit regularly. I do more than simply buy stuff, I study people. I try not to stare, that might get me in trouble (that was a joke – where I live, it’s not an offence to stare, within reason of course). Through observation I have found something very significant . By looking at the contents of a shopping cart at the checkout, I can usually predict the “weight state” of the person pushing it. You can try this for yourself.
I give the example of the two extremes, and I will leave it to you to label the Heavyweight and Lightweight pushing the two shopping trolleys.
Trolley One:
A variety of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Nuts and mueslie.
Wholemeal bread
Fruit juice and full-cream milk.
Dark chocolate
Fish
Chicken
Trolley Two
Family sized packs of potato crisps(chips)
Packets of biscuits
Frozen pizza, lasagna
Assorted bottles of soft drinks
Frozen vegetables
White bread and cakes
I admit, I have exaggerated the two cases, but my point is, whoever does your shopping controls what you eat, your diet, and your weight-loss.
If unhealthy, fattening food is left in the supermarket, then you cannot eat it – it isn’t in your pantry or fridge. Make your “healthy weight-loss list” and stick to it. At the risk of high drama why not leave your spouse and kids home when you do the shopping?
