Baby Boomers Force Up Obesity Rates
Obesity in adults rose in 23 US states last year and baby boomers are more obese than their parents, says Associated Press. This report claims obesity fell in no states, and comes from the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Mississippi still has the highest adult obesity rate at 32.5%, while three other states have rates of 30% plus. The oldest baby boomers, ages 55 to 64, weigh more than people 65 or older, in every state. Obesity is expensive since Medicare spends $1,400 to $6,000 more each year for an obese person than the average.
