To diet or not to diet?

Weight-loss  and your diet.

The most important aspect to weight-loss is what you eat. Nobody has ever put on weight by breathing fresh air and drinking water! Type in the key words “weight-loss diet” in your favorite search engine, and there are literally millions of web pages that will advise you on how to lose weight by dieting.

To brighten up your day

To brighten up your day

There are probably many thousands of choices.

Once again, who do you trust?

Here are my Two Weight-Loss Eating Rules.

1. Do NOT “diet” to lose weight. Like taxes, unwanted weight will return to haunt you.

2. DO resolve to change your eating habits for the rest of your life. Yes, weight loss is not a once off event,  it’s for a life time.

Notice the difference? “Dieting” suggests that once you have reached your required weight, you can relax. The job is finished. Whoopee! You are slim and desirable once again.

Wrong!!
That’s the time the weight sneaks insidiously back into your life.

Eating is for a lifetime, and so is eating right foods.  Keep your lost weight where it belongs – anywhere except your waistline!

My Eating
These are my two principles for losing weight for good.

1. No sugary cakes, cookies, biscuits or manufactured sweet-stuffs. Sorry they are Deadly. So is sugar itself.  If you have a “mouthful of sweet teeth”, then eat fruit for weight-loss!

2. Basic foods. Fruit, nuts, fish and vegetables. If you’re  Australian, you can add to that kangaroo steak – the best lean and non-toxic red meat available. I have been cooking kangaroo steak for 25 years – write to me for a recipe. (If the thought upsets you, remember only those kangaroos that are overstocked are culled for meat).

Of course you can eat bread (whole meal) and various other healthy foods. Just stick to my two principles as closely as you can, and watch your weight slide of. Oops, I forgot to mention. Normal portions only!

Another “food thought” on your journey towards the new slim you.

Toxic “Foods”

What are toxic foods?

There are many hundreds of foods that can harm you.

In our context these are foods that help your weight-loss, but are deleterious to your health.

Examples:
Foods with traces of herbicides and pesticides in them such as many forms of meat, and meat products.

All types of drugs which encourage weight-loss and weight gain.

Chemicals used as preservative in food.

Certain cooking oils.

Artificial sweeteners

It is impossible to avoid all the toxic substances that are present in our foods and drinks, even water. What you CAN do is greatly minimize that risk.

I encourage you, as you begin the journey to achieve your weight-loss goal, to learn all you can about the potentially harmful products that are sold on our supermarket shelves.

One final word:   It is still possible to get fat on good healthy food. It all depends how much you eat! A no brainer.

Tip: If you are still eating too much, buy a set of (non-refillable) smaller plates!
