The rush then the calm
Of course you know what “comfort food” is. When you have that “down” feeling – you nibble, in an effort to lift your spirits. Then you pile on the kilograms. Did you know comfort food weight gain is often caused by stress?
How do you overcome stress and lose weight?
The most difficult aspect of weight-loss is overcoming those delicious sweet tit bits that cause the nasty fat globules to swarm all over you like a plague. Come to think of it, EXCESS fat can be just like a plague. It’s quiet, it’s pervasive and its effects can be deadly!
Each person is different, and each has a different level of stress. Clever psychiatrists are often paid huge fees to overcome stress – for those who can afford it. I am unsure if any shrink has helped with weight-loss!
Here are some of my tips how to fight stress, and engage in a successful weight-loss program.
Seek help. Talk to someone who cares. Believe me, there is someone for you.
Tell yourself that 99% of everything you worry about never happens. I often do.
I pray for inner peace. (Do you believe God can help you? Personally I am certain He can and does).
Tell yourself that stress caused by a painful experience always passes – it’s just a matter of time, and the black clouds pass.
Exercise regularly and solidly. This has a double benefit – you lose weight and reduce stress at the same time! You cannot feel down if you are exercising hard.
Remove yourself from deep stress. Quit your job. Move house if you have to. Having done that, look forward positively to a new better life.
There is always a way forward, and of course, a good weight-loss plan will lift your spirits!
